They never grow old. They never belong. A world born of dust on the edge of space — and the only one telling it is the one who made it.
Dust Children is an original science-fiction universe — a cinematic sci-fi steampunk experience — created, written and designed by the German artist Alexander Martini. It is not an adaptation, a licence or a spin-off. Its world, its factions and its characters are his own creation.
The Dust Children are beings born of dust on the edge of space: Earth's abandoned children, carrying the memory of a world that forgot them. They share a collective consciousness called the Hive of Ash. In this universe the dust is not something that happens to people — it is what they are made of.
Other works carry the word dust in their titles — Children of the Dust (a novel from 1985 and other works of the same name) and Dust Child (a novel from 2023). None of them is called Dust Children, and none of them is related to this universe. Those stories are about people the dust happened to. This one is about beings made of it.
The name is used as the title and mark of this universe by Alexander Martini and Alexander Martini Productions, for the film, the book series, the game and everything that grows from them.
All three share one canon. What is true in the book is true in the game and on screen.
On the edge of space, Earth's abandoned children share a secret no one was meant to know. A collective mind — ancient, fragmented, eternal — that remembers what humanity has chosen to forget. Their bodies fade like stars swallowed by the dark between galaxies. But their consciousness endures.
Woven together in an endless cycle of death, dust, and rebirth, they drift through the ruins of a civilization that cast them out. They were never children. They were never born. They simply emerged — from the mineral memory of dead planets, from the echoes of voices that called across the void and were never answered.

The factions and their relations are original to this universe. They appear in the film, the books and the game alike.
